Welcome to the Google Analytics 4 Connector Setup guide!

In this article, we will cover the following:

First, open separate tabs in your browser for Savant and Google Analytics 4 and login to both.

In Savant, click on "Data" in the top menu, and toggle to the "Systems" option in the upper left of the page. Click the "New System" button.

This will take you to a page with a list of all available connected systems in Savant. Scroll or search among the selections for Google Analytics 4 and select the icon, then click "Next".

On the next page, you will be asked to authenticate the connection by completing the required "UA Property ID" field:

In your Google Analytics 4 tab, go to Admin > Property > Property Setting > Tracking ID to find the Property ID. Alternatively, click on the top left All Accounts menu, where the Account ID, Property ID, and View ID can be seen:

Copy the Property ID, navigate back to your Savant tab and paste it into the Property ID field.

With all required fields completed, click "Authenticate" and enter the necessary Google login credentials if prompted.

Next, you will have an option to configure the dataset so it only includes the fields necessary for your analysis, and to preview the data. Select items from the Schema and Object drop-down menus and click "Apply."

The Schema drop-down includes two options: Objects and Reports. The selected Schema determines the options in the following Object drop-down menu.

If Schema is set to "Objects", then the Savant Object drop-down menu will include the following:

If Schema is set to "Reports", then the Savant Object drop-down menu will include the following:

Once you've made your selections and clicked "Apply," a preview of the dataset will load. Check the boxes next to the desired columns and click "Next."

This will load a page where you can choose to rename your system and include an optional Description. Once finished, click "Confirm".

Your new Google Analytics 4 system is now authenticated in Savant!

If you are working within an analysis, on the top left side of your canvas, click the Add Dataset button shown below, and select your Google Analytics 4 connection.

If you are not currently within an analysis, you can add your connection by navigating to Data and selecting New Dataset. Select your authenticated Google Analytics 4 system from the list of available options and click Next.

In the Configure Dataset section, you will see drop-down menus for Schema and Object.

Select the Schema, Object, and columns that you want to use for your dataset and click Next.

Lastly, give a name and description to your new dataset and click Confirm.

Your Google Analytics 4 system is now added as a dataset within your analysis!
