This setup guide explains how to generate Savant Datasets from Workday Custom Reports.


Authenticating Workday in Savant

The Workday connector directly accesses data from a custom report. To do so, you'll need the following:

  1. A Workday Custom Report URL

  2. An Integration Service User Username

  3. An Integration Service User Password

Create an Integration Service User

  1. Navigate to Create Integration System User:

    • Find the option to create an Integration System User.

  2. Select the Task:

    • Choose the "Create Integration System User" task.

  3. Provide User Details:

    • Enter a username and password for the user.

    • Click "Ok" to confirm.

Creating a Security Group:

  1. Navigate to Create Security Group:

    • Look for the task to create a Security Group.

  2. Select the Task:

    • Choose the "Create Security Group" task.

  3. Configure the Security Group:

    • From the "Type of Tenanted Security Group" pull-down menu, select "Integration System Security Group (Unconstrained)."

    • In the "Name" field, enter a descriptive name.

  4. Add Integration System User:

    • On the "Edit Integration System Security Group (Unconstrained)" page, include the Integration System User you created in the previous step in the "Integration System Users" section.

  5. Setting Domain Permissions:

    • Go to the "Maintain Domain Permissions for Security Group" page.

    • Permit the domain security policies to have "Get" access.

  6. Activate Security Policy Changes:

    • Search for the task labeled "Activate Pending Security Policy Changes."

    • Review the pending changes and approve them as needed.

Creating a Custom Report:

  1. Enter Report Details:

    • Go to the "Create Custom Report" page.

    • Provide a descriptive "Report Name" for your custom report.

  2. Select Report Type:

    • From the "Report Type" drop-down menu, choose "Advanced."

  3. Enable Web Service:

    • Check the "Enable as Web Service" option.

  4. Add Data Source:

    • Choose the relevant data source(s) you want to include in the report.

    • Add the specific fields you wish to synchronize.

    (NOTE: You can create multiple custom reports following these steps.)

Creating a Custom Report:

  1. Enter Report Details:

    • Go to the "Create Custom Report" page.

    • Provide a descriptive "Report Name" for your custom report.

  2. Select Report Type:

    • From the "Report Type" drop-down menu, choose "Advanced."

  3. Enable Web Service:

    • Check the "Enable as Web Service" option.

  4. Add Data Source:

    • Choose the relevant data source(s) you want to include in the report.

    • Add the specific fields you wish to synchronize.

    (NOTE: You can create multiple custom reports following these steps.)

Adding Authorized Users to the Report:

  1. Share the Report:

    • In the custom report's "Share" tab, add the user created in Step 1 to the "Authorized Users" field.

Finishing Custom Report Configuration:

  1. Sharing as Web Service:

    • In the "Advanced" tab of each custom report, share the report to "Report-as-a-WebService."

  2. Recording the REST URL:

    1. For each report, go to "Actions" -> "Web Service" -> "View URLs."

    2. Copy the Rest URL provided here for use in Savant.


Connecting Data from Workday

Keep in mind that every Custom Report in Workday requires a new System authentication in Savant (the Integration Service User credentials can be reused.

After authenticating a new Workday report in Savant, the dataset creation process is limited to the data available in the report you authenticated.


Publishing Data to Workday

Publishing data to Workday is not currently supported as a destination point within your analysis.
